Quiver is an invitation for audiences to share a gentle psycho-physical exploration of space, moving somewhere between panic and comfort with dancers and musicians from Tony Yap Company.
These culturally diverse, independent artists collaborate in a space of spontaneous evolution within structure.
Tony Yap Company performances are often inspired by Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu—an ancient text that captures human paradox with humour and visual drama: ease/difficulty; sacred/profane; gravity/levitation: strength/frailty.
Quiver:
– free from the pull of gravity
– embodied compassion
– faith in the possibility of impossibility
The viewer is encouraged to wander freely amongst the artists and musicians to experience the performance fluctuate and grow. Quiver is a durational performance that runs for four hours, with it’s peak at 5pm.
This performance is brought to you by:
Tony Yap: Director
Lisa Dethridge: Producer
Jasper Solomonsz: Curator
Reuben Lewis: Music/Sound
This event has been developed as part of the M_Curators, an MPavilion program engaging young makers, doers and programmers. This initiative is made possible by our presenting partner Bloomberg Philanthropies.
