Melbourne Suzuki Guitar Ensemble has members from age five to age twelve, who come from all over the city of Melbourne, from families of diverse backgrounds. Together they make music, from a variety of traditional folk tunes to popular classical themes. All of the students performing have been studying guitar for less than four years.
Led by teacher and ensemble director Meredith Connie, the students play together regularly in normal life, something they miss greatly when restricted by COVID-19. The opportunity to play together again encapsulates how much making music together can be a source of joy and community.
