Internationally renowned architect Bjarke Ingels makes the impossible possible. Making a Mountain follows the progress of the famously ambitious ‘CopenHill’ project, the world’s cleanest waste-to-energy plant with an artificial ski slope on the roof as the literal icing on the cake.
Described as a ‘cinematic construction site symphony’, Making a Mountain follows a BIG, decade-long adventure to build one of the world’s most innovative and iconic examples of green architecture and ‘Hedonistic Sustainability’.
Winning a half a billion Euro bid, the Copenhill project set out to be the cleanest waste-to-energy plant in the world, the tallest building in Copenhagen, and the home of Denmark’s first artificial ski-slope.
Bjarke Ingels Group’s Copenhill helps the city burn 70 tons of waste per hour and produces clean energy for 60,000 families while heating 120,000 homes. Its sloped rooftop invites the public to ski and snowboard all year round.
An architectural beacon visible from all of Copenhagen, the Copenhill illustrates what is possible when we dream big and visioneer a brighter, more sustainable future.
