Botanical Monoprinting, Image by Shannon Lyons

We’re bringing a bit of the beautiful bush that surrounds TarraWarra Museum of Art to the city this summer in our hands-on Grass, twigs, leaves!: Botanical Monoprinting workshop! Join Yarra Ranges-based artist and educator Brownyn Ward for a morning making monoprints of grass, twigs, ferns, fronds, and leaves. Together with their parents or guardians, children aged between 5 and 12 years old are invited to use botanical elements to explore a direct printmaking process, contributing to a giant collaborative artwork inspired by the work of one of Australia’s most important and celebrated contemporary artists, Judy Watson. Artworks by Judy Watson, whose Aboriginal matrilineal family is from Waanyi country in north-west Queensland, are presented in TarraWarra Museum of Art’s summer exhibition Looking Glass: Judy Watson and Yhonnie Scarce.
