2020 First Nations Early Career Writers Residency

We are proud to publish the work of the MPavilion 2020 First Nations Early Career Writers Residency, in partnership with Footscray Community Arts Centre.

Written by Ashleigh Millar, Declan Fry, Elijah Money, Tristen Harwood and Monique Grbec, each work is a response to the monthly program themes of MPavilion 2020.

From relationships, to experiences of lockdown, to sacred Australian environments, these reflections comprise a powerful and affecting collection.

Mentored by writers Bridget Caldwell and Maddee Clark, the writers in residence wrote and developed their pieces throughout three months of 2020.

Developed in partnership with Footscray Community Arts Centre, the First Nations Early Career Writers Residency is an initiative designed to provide emerging writers with an opportunity to enhance their practice through material and creative support.
