A workshop that re-thinks ‘contact improvisation’ as a movement strategy and somatic practice.

Facilitated by renowned movement artist, Josef Lehrer, the workshop aims to engage participants in a communal sensory practice whilst inviting them to consider what community and meaningful connection means in the absence of contact.

Josef will lead the participants in an exploration of the fundamental elements of contact improvisation, such as shared weight bearing, non-vocal communication and bodily awareness. Throughout the workshop, participants will be invited to consider the implications of these elements in the current climate in which contact is less of a possibility.

Participants will then have the opportunity to engage Josef in a Q&A after the workshop.

This event has been developed as part of the M_Curators, an MPavilion program engaging young makers, doers and programmers. This initiative is made possible by our presenting partner Bloomberg Philanthropies.
