Local label institution Chapter Music is excited to present a much overdue live launch for Midnight Meditations, its 2020 compilation of contemplative, late night downbeat and ambient sounds. Midnight Meditations featured fourteen previously unreleased tracks from Australian-based artists, and was designed to help listeners through long dark pandemic nights. It was an RTR FM album of the week and written up via the likes of Brooklyn Vegan, NME Australia and Weirdo Wasteland.

Midnight Meditations artists Fred Leone (Yirinda), Sarah Mary Chadwick, Fia Fiell, Ela Stiles and Thomas Hardisty will all perform, with Chapter’s Ben and Guy DJing between sets.

Fred Leone from Midnight Meditations artists Yirinda is a Butchulla songman and storyteller from Kgari (Fraser Island), who has performed at Mona Foma, Golden Plains and Supersense. Sarah Mary Chadwick is a fiercely emotional god of song, whose star has ascended over a remarkable series of albums, culminating in this year’s Me & Ennui Are Friends, Baby.

Fia Fiell is the moniker of Carolyn Schofield, a Vietnamese-Australian composer, pianist and performer of synthesiser-based ambient and experimental electronic music. Carolyn has performed at festivals across Australia including Dark Mofo, Inner Varnika and Freedom Time. Ela Stiles is a Melbourne based musician, singer, songwriter and producer. This show will be her last ever solo show played on the harmonium.

Thomas Hardisty is a member of Nun, UV Race and more. His solo project explores reflective moods via a DX7 and Matrix-1000. Hardisty’s 2019 LP Peace in the Plaza was an ambient tribute to Northcote Plaza and its surrounding parklands.
