Following a Bachelor of Arts in Politics with a Diploma of Languages in Mandarin, Grant worked in sociolinguistics research at the University of Melbourne. His areas of research included language and literacy education, language policy and planning, and peace and social cohesion dialogue. Grant speaks Spanish and Mandarin, having studied both languages within classroom settings and travelling abroad.

Grant is currently studying the Doctor of Medicine at the University of Melbourne. He is interested in Public Health and hopes someday to combine his passion for languages, social justice and medicine by providing healthcare to marginalised groups in Australia and overseas.
