Esala Liyanage

Esala Liyanage is a musician based in Narrm/Birraranga (Melbourne) is a member of art-pop band Cold Hands Warm Heart, who draw on the influences of environmental/ambient music and take inspiration from the natural world. He also performs sometimes with Isolation Improvisation Collective. Developed in response to COVID-19 lockdown conditions, the Isolation Improvisation Collective is a project devoted to experimentation, cross disciplinary communication and connectivity in a physically-distanced world. Using online conferencing software the group performs across the internet. Previous projects include pop, folk & experimental bands such as Avalon Beach, Guns for Saint Sebastian, Hana Maru and Prudence Rees Lees. Esala has also toured overseas with Four Larks Theatre & Cold Hands warm heart. He is also a co-founder of artist-run performance space, studios and record label Eastmint.
