Danica Chappell
Danica Chappell is a visual artist working on the traditional lands of the Boon Wurrung and Wurundjeri in Naarm (Melbourne). Danica creates photographs from slow, thoughtful exchanges between matter and process in her darkroom studio. The darkroom entices flexibility to extend the hand of the artist through the slip of a form. Here the viewer’s perception is held to consider abstraction and narrative.
Recently commissioned solo exhibitions include, ‘Thickness of Time’ at Heide III MoMA Project Gallery, Melbourne (2018-19) and in 2021 Danica will present solo exhibition ‘Far from the Eye’ at Latrobe Art Institute, Bendigo as a commissioned artist for PHOTO2021.
