Chatpong “Chat” Chuenrudeemol

Chatpong “Chat” Chuenrudeemol is the principal of Bangkok-based research and design studio, CHAT architects, recognized for its extensive documentation of Thai vernacular street typologies, affectionately called Bangkok Bastards. In 2020, his work earned him the Silpathorn Award, the highest honor for Thai contemporary artists in the field of architecture. Chat obtained his BA in Architecture from U.C. Berkeley in 1994 and his Masters of Architecture at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design in 2000. In spring of 2020, Chat taught a studio entitled, “From Ocean to Table: Thai Coastal Urbanism” at MIT School of Architecture and Planning.
