Cédart Tamasala

Cedart studied at the Academy des Beaux Arts in Kinshasa for a brief period, and further developed his work at the White Cube in Lusanga, a permanent art center on a former Unilever plantation in D.R. Congo. His drawings and sculptures have been exhibited internationally, most notably at SculptureCenter (NYC), KW (Berlin) and Mori Art Museum (Tokyo), where the entire CATPC show consisted of Ced’art’s work. At a conference co-organised by the Ruskin School of Art at the Mori Art Museum in December 2018, Ced’art called for the repatriation of Congolese art works to the plantation, rather than to museums in global cities. With the proceeds of their art, CATPC buys back land and starts ecological and inclusive Post-plantations. Ced’art has been the vice-president of CATPC since 2016.
